Hank Plante calls it quits at Channel 5

The no-nonsense, silver-tongued political editor at KPIX is hanging up his microphone at the end of March. It'll mark the end of a distinguished career that began in print, including a stint on the city desk at the Washington Post, and another 30 plus years as a reporter or anchor at TV stations across the country. In 24 years in San Francisco, Plante won several local and national Emmys and was part of a KPIX team that won a prestigious George Peabody Award for its "Aids Lifeline" series.

Check out his memorable meltdown interview of Mayor Gavin Newsom last November. It's classic Hank Plante, doing what he does.
