A Nob Hill hotelier looks to move on

Saturday, July 31, 2010

250px-2009-0722-HuntingtonHotel The son of the man Herb Caen once dubbed the “nabob of Nob Hill” tells The Bay Citizen’s Elizabeth Lesly Stevens he’s ready to sell the somewhat faded Huntington Hotel and move on.

Whether that’ll be possible anytime soon, given the 12-story Nob Hill landmark’s tangled finances, John Cope isn’t sure.

Add hotel: It was his colorful late father Newton Cope who in the late ‘70s famously almost married Lee Radziwill, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis’ sister. Radziwill called it off an hour beforehand, but the couple went on a honeymoon anyway.
