Newsom draws a swarm at state party convention

Saturday, April 30, 2011

image Steven Harmon reports for the BANG newspapers that Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom “was looking awfully candidate-ish” while making the rounds at the state Democratic Convention on Friday’s opening day. An excerpt:

You had to pry him from activists, who flocked to him with the zeal of autograph hounds.

And no matter how much he tried to avoid straying from the party line, Newsom, whose hair was coifed up to standard and teeth looking extra-whitened, cut his own swath on a couple issues . . .

Add Newsom: Harmon goes on to describe Newsom’s nuanced response when asked to opine about Gov. Brown’s insistence on holding an election over any new taxes. Very campaign-modish.
