ABC News has acquired rights to 8 1/2 hours of until now sealed “oral history” interviews Jacqueline Kennedy gave to historian Arthur Schlesinger Jr. in 1964. It will air them as part of a blockbuster series of specials in September to mark the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Kennedy administration.
Add: Diane Sawyer will anchor the series, but there’s enough material that the network plans to parcel it out over most all of its news division programs, the press release says.
Also: Release of the interviews is in conjunction with a book, “Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations on Life with John F. Kennedy.” It includes a personal forward by Caroline Kennedy and annotations from historian Michael Beschloss. There’s a trailer at TV Newser.
