Remember former Oakland deputy police chief David Kozicki, who retired just before internal affairs investigators recommended he be dismissed for his handling of a 2009 SWAT team shootout in which two officers were killed? The Bay Citizen reports that he’s now making $86,000 in his new job as an Alameda County sheriff’s deputy—while collecting nearly $196,000 from his Oakland pension.
Add: It was Kozicki who approved the ill-fated assault on a residential building where parolee Lovelle Mixon shot and killed the two SWAT team members, after having already shot and killed two other officers after a traffic stop.
