Effort to rename Bay Trail for Bill Lockyer is rebuffed

Tuesday, May 24, 2011

image When one of Nadia Lockyer’s colleagues on the Alameda County Board of Supervisors floated a proposal in April to rename the 500-mile-long San Francisco Bay Trail after her husband, state treasurer Bill Lockyer, it may have looked like the fix was in. But the city of Richmond objected. And now the Association of Bay Area Governments has agreed, says the Contra Costa Times. No Bill Lockyer trail.

Add: Instead, they’ve apparently decided to honor Lockyer, who wrote the bill making the trail possible, with a monument instead. Where it’ll be has yet to be determined; but probably not in Richmond.
