Josh Wolf graduates tomorrow from UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism, but, as with the blogger/videographer/student journalist’s previous endeavors, it comes with a price. Before he can pick up his diploma the university is requiring him to write an essay as punishment for being arrested along with others while taping a 2009 student protest occupation of Wheeler Hall, the Chronicle’s Nanette Asimov says:
Guilty verdicts for practicing journalism are the stuff of authoritarian nations and now, apparently, UC Berkeley.
Add: Wolf’s claim to fame is having spent 7 months in jail in 2006 and 2007 after refusing to turn over videotape of an anarchist demonstration in San Francisco that the feds wanted as evidence. He later posted it on his website.
