One and done for defense in Chauncey Bailey trial

Thursday, May 5, 2011

image One day, one witness for the defense in the Oakland murder trial of former Your Black Muslim Bakery leader Yusuf Bey IV (pictured) and associate Antoine Mackey, accused of killing journalist Chauncey Bailey and two other people.

Add Bailey: After six weeks and 170 witnesses called by the prosecution, the defense’s lone witness Wednesday was meant to rebut testimony related to the murder of Michael Wils. Bey IV’s court-appointed lawyer didn’t put on anyone related to Bailey’s murder.

Add trial: After a hiatus, closing arguments start May 17 with the case expected to go to the jury as early as May 23. ABC 7; Chauncey Bailey Project
