Bryan Stow shows improvement

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

imageBeating victim Bryan Stow is breathing without a ventilator and doctors at San Francisco General have upgraded his condition from critical to serious. At a news conference this morning the hospital’s chief of neurosurgery, Dr. Geoff Manley, also says the 42-year-old Giants fan assaulted outside Dodger Stadium on Opening Day shows spontaneous movement of his left arm, intermittently follows some basic commands and is opening his eyes, the Chronicle’s Demian Bulwa says.

Add: The doctor cautions, however, that recovery from his brain injury will be measured in months and years, not days and weeks.
