No matter how this afternoon’s College World Series game with Texas A&M turns out, Cal’s rags-to-riches baseball season just got some more glitter: Coach David Esquer was named National Coach of the Year, the Chronicle reports.Add: Not bad for a coach, and program, thought to be playing a swan song season until private donations prompted UC to call off its plans to eliminate baseball after this year.
