David Henderson taken off life support

Tuesday, June 7, 2011

image The one-time prep standout at Lincoln High and former City College of San Francisco star running back who was paralyzed from the neck down after being shot in the head in the Bayview May 26 has died. He was 21.

Add: At Lincoln he set a city record with over 5,600 career rushing yards and was the kind of athlete that college coaches drooled over as a potential future NFL prospect. He had recently rededicated himself to football and was playing for the semi-pro Pacifica Islanders.

Noted: SFPD has released little information about the shooting, which occurred around noontime in the 1400 block of Kirkwood Avenue. There have been no reported arrests. Here’s an Examiner piece with more about Henderson.
