Feds take over Contra Costa corruption probe

Saturday, June 4, 2011

image Looks like the Contra Costa police corruption scandal may be about to broaden, with DA Mark Peterson’s announcement Friday that the feds are taking over the investigation. Four former cops are implicated thus far in a range of alleged crimes, including private investigator and would-be reality TV star Christopher Butler (pictured) and Norman Wielsch, a former state drug task force leader. Chronicle; Contra Costa Times

Add: Michael Cardoza, Wielch’s lawyer, tells the Contra Costa Times that the feds “think [the scandal] goes deeper” and says “they’re going to want to clean house on what they think is there.”
