KCBS, KGO each win Murrow Awards

imageTwo Bay Area news radio rivals have each won a national Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio Television Digital News Association. KCBS wins for Audio Continuing Coverage related to the San Bruno disaster. KGO wins for Audio Sports Reporting for a piece about a combo barber shop and boxing gym.

And to play catch-up: The Northern California chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences handed out local Emmy Awards last week in San Francisco. You can check out the complete list of winners. At the top of the press release:
  • Overall Station Excellence went to KTVU 2, with outgoing VP and general manager Tim McVay accepting.
  • ABC 7 swept the newscast categories.
  • ABC 7’s Wayne Freedman took home his 50th and 51st statuettes, for Video Journalist and News Writing.
