At UC Berkeley, lots fewer in-state freshmen

Friday, July 1, 2011

imageUC Berkeley’s campaign to attract higher-tuition-paying out-of-state or out-of-country students is paying off. Fully 26 percent of incoming freshmen and transfer students this fall are non-Californians, up from 15 percent two years ago, the Chronicle says.

Follow the money: Out-of-state students pay $35,000 a year at Berkeley; California residents pay $12,000.
