The reasons may be understandable why Cal State trustees approved a $400,000 salary for the new president of San Diego State yesterday, but the timing couldn’t have been worse. Nothing else you can say about a day when the trustees also piled a 12 percent tuition increase on top of a double digit hike less than a year ago.
