Among the finds from a new release of material at the Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda is a memo involving then 25-year-old Nixon White House aide and current ABC News anchor Diane Sawyer. Here’s how NBC’s Brian Williams reported it last night on his network’s evening newscast:
“The memo showed Diane Sawyer, then a 25-year-old Nixon White House aide, got in trouble for telling a family friend he was being nominated as a federal judge. Problem is, a U.S. Senator was supposed to tell him first. Sawyer apologized profusely.”
