Group: Razing Hangar One would be ‘mockery’

Saturday, July 16, 2011

imagePreservationists steamed at House Republicans for cutting $32.8 million from the budget meant for restoring historic Hangar One, which could lead to the 1930s era Navy dirigible station at Moffett Field being demolished, are fighting back. In a letter to be sent to the Office of the Inspector General, the Moffett Field Restoration Advisory Board says demolition of the Silicon Valley landmark would “make a mockery” of federal historic preservation law, the Mountain View Voice says.

Add: Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-Palo Alto) also weighs in, calling the funding cut “deeply disappointing” and pledging not to give up on restoration.
