Pot calls kettle black: CalPERS disses News Corp.

Friday, July 29, 2011

Talk about chutzpah. CalPERS, the state public imageemployees retirement system, mired in its own in-house corruption scandal, says it's appalled by the “corruption of the governance system” at Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. Public pension watcher Jack Dean tells California Watch: “Even if [CalPERS] were squeaky clean in terms of what’s been transpiring with [its own] scandals, I would still have a problem with them criticizing the way other boards are set up, because I believe the CalPERS board is stacked against the taxpayers.”

Noted: Public employees might be appalled by something else: CalPERS owns a $110 million stake in News Corp.
