
Now that the manufactured hoopla over San Francisco’s landing the 2013 America’s Cup has given way to reality, the
fine print looks a lot less appealing. The Chronicle’s John King offers the latest case in point with respect to Larry Ellison and fellow organizers’ efforts to transform a big chunk of the Embarcadero waterfront into a view-blocking floating parking lot for yachts belonging to the rich and famous:
Nor does the imposition end there. If the basin alongside Rincon Park requires dredging to accommodate a class of ships where size most emphatically matters, regatta organizers have the option to turn the basin into a commercial marina. Today's wide-open views might never return.
