Ex-KTVU reporter Sara Sidner a CNN star in Tripoli

Thursday, August 25, 2011

imageAmong TV journalists whose stock has risen  during the dramatic events in Tripoli the last few days you’d have to put CNN correspondent and former KTVU 2 hand Sara Sidner at the head of the class. Her calm yet nail-biting reportage Tuesday while entering Muammar Gaddafi’s compound with bullets flying made for some of the more compelling footage of the war. At one point she looks into the camera and says, “I’m going to try not to get hit” and a few minutes later she tells an over-zealous rebel, “Sir, please don’t shoot.”

Add: Sidner left KTVU in 2008 to go to work for CNN in New Dehli. She distinguished herself early covering the Mumbai terrorist attack. A piece by Lois Romano at The Daily Beast calls her “Cable TV’s break out star.”
