Life sentences for Yusef Bey IV, Antoine Mackey

Friday, August 26, 2011

imageBey IV, the former leader of the defunct Your Black Muslim Bakery, was given three consecutive life sentences and his underling, Mackey, two, in the murders of journalist Chauncey Bailey and two other men. Bailey, the former Oakland Post reporter, was assassinated in 2007 while investigating the bakery group’s finances.

Add: Michael Wills, one of two other men Yusef Bey IV was convicted of having ordered killed, was a sous chef gunned down while walking to a corner store for no apparent reason other than he was white.

Noted: The Oakland Trib reports that Mackey turned in his chair and listened intently as Bailey’s ex-wife and Wills’ mother spoke at today’s sentencing in an Oakland courtroom. Bey IV (pictured) looked only briefly.
