When the slumlord is the Nigerian government

Friday, August 26, 2011

imageBizarre story by Andrea Koskey in the Examiner about a $2.8 million home in Presidio Heights that once housed Nigeria’s consul general but that’s been a squatter’s haven for more than 20 years. Nigeria closed its San Francisco consulate in 1989. After complaining about the house for years, neighbor Serena Ventura finally heard back from the Nigerian government. Its response: to post a security guard in front (that’s him, wearing a bullet proof vest, in the Examiner photo).

Postscript: Ventura says the Nigerians are telling her they plan to use the house as a consulate again.
