Buried deep in a Q&A for guild members at Bay Area News Group are circulation projections for when the Contra Costa Times and Oakland Tribune disappear and The Times and East Bay Tribune emerge Nov. 2. The Mercury News, which won’t be affected much by the down-sizing, has a daily circulation of about 205,000. Preliminary estimate for The Times is that it will be about 136,000 daily; 105,000 for the Tribune.
Add: Meanwhile, there’s understandable nervousness over which and how many BANG editorial jobs will be lopped off come pink slip day, October 28. For now, the guild is saying probably “in the neighborhood of 40.”
