Raising $70,000 to help Mayor Ed Lee’s election campaign would be enough to get a columnist fired at many newspapers. But not the Chronicle’s Willie Brown. The Examiner’s Dan Schreiber overheard the ex-mayor boasting about the haul from a Tuesday night fundraiser for Lee at a North Beach restaurant during Brown’s appearance yesterday at the Transbay Transit Center construction site. When asked about the fundraiser by The Examiner, Brown declined to comment.
