California’s senior senator says she was “wiped out” by the Democratic political operative and much sought-after treasurer for dozens of the state’s politicos who was arrested Sept. 2 and accused of pilfering money from a state assemblyman’s campaign account. As
Dianne Feinstein’s revelations suggest, the charge against Kindee Durkee so far may just be the tip of the iceberg, Politico says:
“I was wiped out too, we don’t know how much . . . She did my ‘92 campaign, my ‘94 campaign, my 2000 [campaign], my 2006 [campaign] … my gubernatorial campaign. I trusted her implicitly. It’s very painful.”
Add: Feinstein, who’s up for re-election next year, reported just over $5 million in the bank as of June 30, but she says she and her staff haven’t been able to get to all their bank records yet because Durkee alone controlled access.
