The deposed Giants managing general partner and CEO has been under the radar the last several weeks, including canceling a scheduled appearance at a sports law seminar at Santa Clara University the other day because of “an unexpected conflict.” And now comes the news, broken by the Mercury News, that he’s out. The Merc’s Mark Purdy lays the departure at the feet of disagreements among the powerful 10-member executive committee of the club’s 32 “principal partners.”
Add: On a side note, the Giants’ stance on territorial rights to the South Bay isn’t likely to change with new CEO Larry Baer, Purdy says. Baer has been at the forefront of trying to keep the A’s from pursuing a new San Jose ballpark.
