Jonathan Weber departs as editor-in-chief at The Bay Citizen after 18 months with his reputation as a journalistic startup artist intact. Weber announced in a post yesterday that he has stepped down to pursue an as-yet unspecified new venture. Steve Fainaru, the one-time Mercury News reporter who won a Pulitzer Prize at the Washington Post, moves up to editor-in-chief. Jeanne Carstensen becomes executive managing editor.
Add: Weber, a former LA Times reporter, was co-founder and editor-in-chief at the Industry Standard during the dot-com boom. Before coming to TBC, he was founding CEO and editor-in-chief of Montana-based media company New West Publishing.
