San Rafael moves step closer to minor league baseball

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

Although the decision isn’t final yet, San Rafael’s city council has voted to proceed with plans to bring imageminor league baseball to Albert Park under a one-year arrangement in 2012. If it happens, the team will be in the North American League, which has franchises scattered around the country and in Canada that play both AA and AAA ball. You can see the league lineup here. If it happens, looks like San Rafael’s closest rivals could be the Chico Outlaws and the Lake County Fielders.

Noted: Among restrictions to placate the neighbors: No alcohol to be brought to the ballpark, no beer sales after the 7th inning and–lushes take note—no one to be served more than two alcoholic drinks at a time.
