Alex Jonsson, KRON 4 and CBS 5 news editor was 70

The longtime KRON 4 and CBS 5 news editor won six local Emmys, one national Emmy and two Peabody Awards in a career that spanned four decades. He died Oct. 9 at his home in Redwood City, after a recurrence of Melanoma. Jonsson was at KRON from 1967 until “retiring” there in 2005. He then moved over to KPIX/CBS, where he continued to work until January of this year. Chronicle has a death notice.
