BART’s Lafayette boondoggle

Thursday, October 6, 2011

imageWhat’s wrong with this picture? BART spent $2 million to build a zigzag ramp leading from the Lafayette station to a sidewalk without any way for wheelchairs to access it from one of its parking lots. California Watch’s Mark Katches reported on the oversight Tuesday and voila! A BART spokesman (other than Linton Johnson, who’s been on personal leave for going on six weeks since engaging in a rash of media-related snafus) says the BART mind trust is on it. James Allison tells California Watch, “A curb will now be cut out as part of the project within six months.” (italics mine)
