Now that the initial shock of Al Davis’ death has subsided, speculation is already turning to what happens with future ownership of the team. Early word is that Davis’s widow, Carol, and son, Mark, plan to keep their controlling interest, with a likely expanded role for CEO Amy Trask (that’s her pictured with Mark Davis in 2008), the Chronicle’s Vittorio Tafur says. And with a potentially interesting twist:
Al Davis had said control of the team would go to Carol and Mark when he died, and also mentioned in a 2006 news conference that former Raiders head coach John Madden might have a role.
Add: Although Davis’ ownership stake dipped to 47% in recent years, the deal with minor partners gave them no control of the franchise, he says.
