Tipster in Whitey Bulger’s capture: ex-Miss Iceland

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

imageRemember that high-profile capture of fugitive Irish mafia boss and famous one-time Alcatraz denizen (1959-1963) James “Whitey” Bulger in Southern California last January? The Boston Globe reports that the woman who told imagethe FBI of the whereabouts of Bulger, 82, and his longtime companion Catherine Greig, 60—and who collected a $2 million reward—is former Miss Iceland of 1974 Anna Bjornsdottir. She apparently struck up an acquaintance with Greig over a cat.

Add: She apparently recognized the fugitives from a CNN report while back in Iceland as her Santa Monica neighbors.
