‘60 Minutes’ presses Nancy Pelosi; she pushes back

Friday, November 4, 2011

imageHouse Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and House Speaker John Boehner are pushing back hard against a “60 Minutes” report to air Sunday Nov. 13 that figures to be an unflattering look at the congressional leaders’ personal stock holdings and their involvement in legislation that may affect those holdings.

Add: As for the San Francisco Democrat, Politico says her office declined to make her available for an interview, so correspondent Steve Kroft went to a Pelosi news conference and asked her this: Why had she and her husband [Paul Pelosi] participated in March 2008 in “a very large” initial public offering “from Visa at a time when there was major legislation affecting credit card companies making its way through the House?”
“First of all, what you’re contending is not true,” Pelosi said. “Second of all, we are very proud of our record of what happened.”
