Aspiring Pacific Heights socialite and sex app entrepreneur Annabel McClellan has been sentenced to 11 months in federal prison for tipping off relatives about corporate mergers she said she overheard her husband Arnold, a former Deloitte Tax LLP lawyer, discussing with clients. The sentence came yesterday from U. S. District Judge William Alsup in San Francisco, says the Chronicle’s Bob Egelko, in a story that draws from court papers. If Annabel made an appearance, it appears that no one from local media was there to observe it.
Add: McClellan’s high-profile husband, her lofty San Francisco social circle, and her involvement with “My Nookie,” the sex app she developed with a partner, made her case a headline grabber. But her lawyers did yeoman work to minimize her exposure in the press after the charges were filed. Arnold wasn’t charged. Annabel last month agreed to pay $1 million to settle a civil suit by the Securities and Exchange Commission. No word yet on where she’ll serve her time. From the Chronicle:
In court papers, McClellan's lawyers said she had committed "a foolish, selfish act for which she is suffering the consequences - financially, legally and personally."
