Cop who called George Gascon a ‘media whore’ gets reprimand

Monday, November 7, 2011

The SFPD officer who called former police chief and current DA George Gascon a “media whore” imagein an SF Weekly story back in January has received a slap on the wrist, the Weekly’s Lauren Smiley says. Officer Carl T.—said to be his real name—had criticized the department for staging a car thief sting for the reality TV show “Bait Car.” His punishment: a “conduct unbecoming of an officer” note in his personnel file.

Noted: He doesn’t sound tamed by it: “Their reprimand is just to tell me to knock it off. I won’t knock it off, I’ll just be a little more selective about what I say.”
