George Epperson, credited with giving the frozen pop-on-a-stick his father, Frank, patented in the Bay Area in 1923 its name—the Popsicle—died at his home in San Rafael on Nov. 16. He was 92. An amateur historian, Epperson spent decades collecting artifacts he found at Agate Beach in Bolinas that he said proved that Sir Frances Drake landed there—and not farther north at Drake’s Bay—in 1579.
