Oakland Mayor Jean Quan must be wondering when the elevator will finally reach the bottom floor. Assailed from all sides for her handling of Occupy Oakland, at least one city council member is pushing a no confidence vote, a new poll shows 73 percent of Oakland voters think she’s botched it, and even the crises manager she called in to help with the mess, former Gavin Newsom spokesman Nathan Ballard, has quit.
Add: Councilman Ignacio De La Fuente, a vocal Quan critic, tells the Oakland Tribune’s Paul T. Rosynsky that he isn’t the anonymous pol shopping the no confidence vote, which council president Larry Reid nixed, but adds:
“I don’t think she’s capable of making a decision; she just cannot do it. I’ve been clear for the last three weeks. Where is the plan? You are the mayor; you cannot hide.”
