John Randolph “Bunky” Hearst, grandson of media magnate William Randolph Hearst and who’s death at 77 was announced over the weekend, was nothing if not a survivor. After suffering a debilitating stroke in 1989 he married 50-year-old Barbara Hearst, who, at the time of their split in 2007, a judge suggested had essentially looted her husband’s estate. From AP:
The judge also recounted how, according to court papers, Hearst's wife entered his bedroom with two process servers and told him, "We can do it ugly, or we can do it nice. ... Remember one thing, I'm much smarter than you are.”
Noted: “Bunky” Hearst, who spent his youth at Hearst Castle in San Simeon, was a news photographer at the company’s New York Daily Mirror in the ‘50s and later was editor of its Motor Boating & Sailing magazine.
