Pac-12 weirdness: UCLA coach to be fired after title game?*

Sunday, November 27, 2011

imageFolks at the Pac-12 office in Walnut Creek can’t be happy with the way the conference’s first-ever football championship game Saturday Friday is shaping up. It’ll be 10-2 north division champ Oregon hosting . . . a 6-6 UCLA team from the south coming off a 50-0 whipping by USC (disqualified for post-season play as part of NCAA sanctions).

Add: The LA Daily News is citing “multiple sources close to the program” as saying UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel will be relieved of his duties immediately after the championship game.

[+] Update Monday 11/28: The UCLA brass decided not to wait. Neuheisel was fired this morning, but he'll be allowed to coach Friday.
