Police union boss Gary Delagnes goes off, claims sheriff’s race ‘betrayal’

Thursday, November 3, 2011

imageThe San Francisco police officers union president fires off a letter lashing out at two associations representing minority officers for not endorsing Chris Cunnie—exclusively—for sheriff. Officers for Justice, repping mainly African-American officers, and the Asian Peace Officers Association endorsed both Cunnie and Paul Miyamoto in the race in which voters can pick up to three candidates next Tuesday under ranked-choice voting.

Add: Cunnie, of course, is the former San Francisco Police Officers Association president, and the fiery Delagnes says the minority cops should support him, and only him. Here’s an excerpt from the letter he sent the head of Officers for Justice, as reported in the Chronicle’s City Insider:
“To me, this is the ultimate act of betrayal against not only one of our own, but also against someone who consistently reached out to your organization while he was president of the SFPOA.’’
