Protesters relent and let trucks enter Port of Oakland

Thursday, November 3, 2011

imageTense moments at the Port of Oakland this morning, where protesters broke down a barricade around 9 o’clock attempting to prevent trucks from entering. But the Oakland Tribune says that after meeting with ILWU president Richard Mead, who appealed to their sense of fairness by telling them dockworkers wouldn’t get a full day’s pay if they weren’t able to work, the protesters dispersed to picket other port entrances.

Noted: The Trib now says about 80 were arrested during last night’s unrest downtown.
