Santa Clara’s $10-million bet on the 49ers

Santa Clara’s city council voted last night to plunk down the money for ground preparation for the stadium the 49ers hope to build there if they flee San Francisco. Reminds me of another $10 million bet that a suburban Los Angeles community made in the late 1980s to win the affections of the late Al Davis. And whatever happened to the Irwindale Raiders?
