Bay Area has 3 of nation’s 15 most congested freeway segments

Wednesday, November 16, 2011

imageThree of the 15 most congested freeway segments in the country are in the Bay Area, says a new study from the Texas Transportation Institute. They’re eastbound Interstate 80 from Treasure Island off of the Bay Bridge (No. 8), 3 1/2 miles of westbound Highway 24 leading to the Caldecott Tunnel (No. 9) and 3.3 miles of eastbound Interstate 80, aka Eastshore Freeway, from University Avenue in Berkeley (No. 15).

Noted: Only place worse—the Los Angeles area—which has eight of the 15 segments.
