UC Regents have canceled their scheduled meeting in San Francisco Wednesday and Thursday, citing “a real danger of significant violence and vandalism,” the Chronicle and other media are reporting. Protesters had called for demonstrations on grounds that some regents have ties to banking and industry. From the Chronicle:
Six regents have such ties: Monica Lozano, who serves on the board of Bank of America; Dick Blum, head of Blum Capital Partners, a private equity firm; William De La Pena, past chairman of California Chamber of Commerce; Leslie Tang Schilling, and investment adviser at the commercial real-estate firm Union Square Investment Company; and Paul Wachter-founder and CEO of Main Street Advisors.
