Hearst’s corporate opulence doesn’t extend to its newspapers


You’d kinda, sorta, maybe figure that someone at the Chronicle’s parent Hearst Corp. might have nixed this video tour of the media company’s opulent Manhattan headquarters tower in deference to the penny-pinching way it deals with its workers. At the very least, it’ll likely provide fodder for the next round of labor negotiations.

Noted: Pacific Media Guild’s blog notes the stark contrast between the Hearst HQ plushness and, say, the Chronicle, whose East Bay news bureau is being relocated to the circulation department in an Oakland warehouse to save money.
