That’s quite a Don Perata item in today’s Matier & Ross column, and with a ribbons-and-bows headline that the ex-state Senate leader and spurned Oakland mayoral candidate could have written himself: “Contra Costa County comes calling on Don Perata.”
Noted: Perata managed to sleep-walk through what was supposed to be a shoe-in election as mayor of Oakland, and despite having the full weight of the Democratic establishment behind him, lost to Jean Quan. He’s since moved over the hill to Orinda and set his sights on a political rebirth as a Contra Costa County supervisor. Or, as the Perata-generated story line would have it: he’s being supplicated by the good folks of Munchkinland to represent them.
