That there were going to be layoffs at the Examiner after Canadian publisher Black Press bought the free tabloid wasn’t a surprise. But new publisher Todd Vogt’s refusing to reveal how many staffers lost their jobs will strike some as odd. He tells the Chronicle it’s “an internal matter.” Early indications are that at least seven were pink-slipped Tuesday, mostly from the copy desk, SF Weekly says.
Noted: If the place shuts down completely, it kind of makes you wonder if they’d bother with a farewell announcement.
