Steve Fainaru took over as interim editor-in-chief at The Bay Citizen after Jonathan Weber left in September. Now, Fainaru is leaving. He plans to pursue a book project with his brother, ESPN sportswriter Mark Fainauru-Wada, according to a TBC piece posted Friday evening.
Noted: It’s been a bumpy few months for the non-profit online news org on the personnel front. CEO Lisa Frazier announced in October her intent to step aside, followed by founder and philanthropist Warren Hellman’s death last month. Frazier’s last day is Feb. 6. Fainaru departs Feb. 9.
