Robert Waggener, who defended Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi in the press by saying “he can be a bit of a tyrant, but he is no abuser” is no longer the sheriff’s attorney. They parted ways yesterday. Mirkarimi has retained Berkeley defense attorney Lidia Stiglich, who, I’m thinking, probably will not use the word “tyrant” to describe her new client.
Add: Not surprisingly, the witness list for Mirkarimi’s Feb. 24 domestic violence trial includes ex-girlfriend Christina Flores and neighbor Ivory Madison, among others.
