For a rough idea of where cable viewers turn for political news, here’s a snapshot of viewer numbers at any given time during election night of the New Hampshire primary: Fox 2.6 million; CNN 1.3 million, MSNBC 1.2 million, Current TV 47,000.
Noted: For the record, San Francisco-based Current’s most recognizable news face, Keith Olbermann, sat out New Hampshire while squabbling with his bosses. Media Decoder says there is a positive in the cabler’s miniscule audience: the average viewer is 36, a lot younger than folks typically watching the other outlets.
